Dear readers,
You may have noticed that my personal instagram bio (@sydneybertuzzo) says “celery juice fan page” this is because celery juice is hands down the best way to start your day.
The taste
I know some of you are thinking that celery juice cannot possibly taste good. Well, you’re right. It took me quite a while to get used to the flavor. But add these ingredients to easily improve the taste.
1. Lemons
Adding lemons to your celery juice will mute some of the salty tones, replacing them with a fresh, sour taste. I recommend adding one lemon per bunch of celery.
2. Ginger
Ginger is not only an incredible source of vitamins, it has a strong and unique taste that complements the celery taste. I recommend using one inch of ginger per bunch of celery.
3. Green Apples
Apples will make your juice sweet. Green apples are low in sugar and have a nice tart flavor. Use 1-3 apples depending on how sweet you like your juice.
Health benefits
Celery contains lots of nutrients making it the perfect for breakfast.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is an important antioxidant and it plays a role in wound healing, it can also help to prevent heart disease and regulate blood pressure. Vitamin C prevents scurvy, can help to lower blood glucose levels and improves immune function.
Vitamin K
Vitamin K is important for blood clotting and absorption of nutrients into the digestive tract. It is found in plenty of fruits and vegetables and most people do not struggle to get enough vitamin K.
Vitamin A
Vitamin A helps with vision and cell growth. It is composed of retinoids that allow the eye to take in light properly and helps you to see at night.
Folate
Everyone should ensure that they are getting the proper amount of folate. However, folate is especially important for pregnant women. Folate prevents neural tube defects in infants.
Potassium
Potassium is essential for the cardiovascular system. It can lower your risk of hear disease, stroke and lowers blood pressure. It also helps to maintain bone and muscle mass.
